Future's crashing (all your parties)

from Celebration by This Mad Desire

/

about

This is one of the few songs that contains no overdubs (except the vocals).

Les re-invented the bassline for this song and re-defined it completely. Originally it was more driving but Bonar and Chris and I went with the flow here. We improvised new parts and I felt like we were holding the song together by a thread. I had no idea how it would end or where it was going and so on.

And Chris? Wow. Listen to his drumming on this song. He's a master. A true great.

When we have played it recently, I had to ask Bonar which guitar parts were his and which were mine. I'm still not convinced about who played what.

lyrics

1. there is nothing to fear now
that the future’s coming
crashing all your parties.
maybe you will find a new love
pulsing in the wreckage
i will shake with glee.

the future’s crashing all around me.
the future’s crashing all your parties.

2. it’s here in the gin and vermouth.
sex, love, the nature of truth.
it’s all here for you.
it takes time to get it right.
we try with all our might.
i am your dream come true.

3. i give in to your suggestion
to embrace this indiscretion.
who cares what anyone thinks?
we steal what is most our own.
a castle made of flesh and bone.
courage and lust that’s on the brink.
